Shipping Policy
Thank you for supporting Stars and Sage Farm in Mexico, New York. We are a small, family-run farm, and we take great care in preparing and shipping your honey, beeswax creations, and farm goods so they arrive safely and in good condition. The details below explain how we handle shipping from our farm to your home.
1. Processing Times
Orders are typically processed within 7-10 business days (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays). Because we are a small farm, each order is packed by hand. During busy seasons (especially around holidays, large harvests, or special events), processing times may be slightly longer. If we anticipate any unusual delay, we will do our best to notify you by email.
Please note that processing time is separate from shipping transit time. Once your order has been processed and handed off to the carrier, delivery time will depend on the shipping method you choose and your location.
2. Shipping Methods and Carriers
We currently ship most orders within the United States using the following carriers:
- USPS (United States Postal Service) – Commonly used for smaller and lighter packages, including honey jars and beeswax items.
- UPS – Often used for larger orders or heavier boxes that are more economical and secure with this carrier.
At checkout, you may see one or more options depending on your order size and shipping address. We reserve the right to switch carriers if it allows us to ship your order more safely or efficiently, but this will not change the shipping cost you agreed to at checkout.
3. Domestic Shipping (Continental U.S.)
We currently ship to addresses within the continental United States. At this time, we do not offer shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or international destinations.
Transit times will vary based on your distance from our farm in Mexico, New York and the carrier used. In general, most orders arrive within 3–7 business days after they have been shipped, but this is an estimate and not a guarantee.
4. Shipping Rates
Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on the weight, size, and destination of your order. We do our best to keep shipping as affordable as possible while still packing your items carefully to protect them in transit.
From time to time, we may offer flat-rate or promotional shipping. Any such offers will be clearly noted on our website or during checkout and may be subject to minimum order amounts, product exclusions, or limited-time availability.
All shipping charges are displayed before you complete your purchase, and by placing an order you agree to the shipping cost shown at checkout.
5. Order Tracking
Once your order has been packed and shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number and a link to track your package through USPS or UPS.
Please allow up to 24 hours after receiving the tracking email for the carrier’s website to update with the latest scan information. If your tracking information does not appear or seems delayed, it is often due to carrier processing times. If you are concerned about your order, you are always welcome to reach out to us directly.
6. Perishable Items and Special Handling
Many of our farm goods, especially honey and certain seasonal items, are sensitive to temperature and handling. We take special care in how we pack these products so they arrive in good condition.
- Honey – Honey is naturally stable, but it can crystallize over time or when exposed to cold temperatures. This is normal and does not mean it has gone bad. If crystallization occurs, gently warm the container in a warm (not boiling) water bath.
- Beeswax Products – Beeswax can soften or warp in extreme heat. During warmer months, we may adjust packaging or shipping methods to help protect these items. Please bring packages indoors promptly upon delivery.
- Other Farm Goods – For any items that are especially temperature- or time-sensitive, we may limit shipping to certain days of the week or include additional packaging to help protect them.
While we take every precaution we can, once a package leaves our farm, we cannot control carrier handling or exposure to extreme temperatures. We strongly recommend tracking your shipment and bringing it inside as soon as it is delivered.
7. Damaged or Lost Packages
We pack each order with care, but sometimes things can happen on the way from our farm to your doorstep. If your order arrives damaged or appears to be lost in transit, please contact us as soon as possible so we can help.
- Damaged Items – Please email us at starsandsagefarm@gmail.com with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and damaged items within 3 days of delivery. We will review the situation and work with you on a replacement, refund, or store credit when appropriate.
- Lost Packages – If tracking information shows that your package has not moved for an extended period, or is marked as delivered but you have not received it, please first check with neighbors and your local post office or UPS facility. If you are still unable to locate your package, contact us and we will help you investigate further.
While we cannot be responsible for delays or errors caused by the carrier, we are committed to treating you fairly and doing what we reasonably can to make things right.
8. Shipping to P.O. Boxes
We are able to ship to P.O. Box addresses in many cases, but these shipments will typically be sent via USPS. Some larger or heavier orders may require a physical street address if they must be shipped via UPS.
If your shipping address includes a P.O. Box and we are unable to ship your order using the method selected at checkout, we will contact you by email to confirm an alternate address or make other arrangements.
9. Holiday and Peak Season Shipping
The weeks leading up to major holidays are some of our busiest times on the farm and for our shipping partners. During these seasons, both processing and transit times may be longer than usual.
To give your gifts and treats the best chance of arriving on time, we recommend ordering as early as possible. We may post suggested holiday order-by dates on our website, but these are estimates and not guarantees, as carrier delays are outside of our control.
Thank you for your patience and for planning ahead during these especially busy times of year.
